Thundercrack!
Product Description
Danish Edition, PAL/Region 2 DVD: Subtitles: Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, English, Dutch, French, Spanish. s ultra-bizarre, ultra-low-budget cult flick for adults (written by underground maverick George Kuchar) is most definitely not for all tastes. While it starts out as an atmospheric gothic horror tale, it quickly turns into a raunchy, graphic, blackly comedic sex-fest, as polymorphically perverse Gertie (Eaton) gets off by watching her houseguests explore a room full of naughty toys. Sexual encounters then continue in full force, as various partners of both genders hook up. If none of this sounds appealing (chances are it won’t to most viewers), you’ll find that Eaton, with her hopelessly skewed eyebrows, is by far the best aspect of the film – her performance is so sincerely melodramatic that one almost begins to root for her, despite her clear mental imbalance. There’s an entire website devoted to the (supposedly) imminent ‘special edition’ DVD release of this film, which until now has only been available as a bootleg;
I have not seen this since the early eighties but once seen never forgotten…It’s black and white and a little like an Ed Wood film but even weirder as the histrionic thespians are as corny and/or wooden but the content is,well,pornographic but also…Comic…As indeed are the hammy efforts of pro pornographists,which do nothing for me,frankly…Thus a bit of a shock as a young man…The film includes a tragic interspecies love affair with a man and a female gorilla (A man-Or woman?-in a furry suit,actually,or at least I hope so)amongst other droll bizarreries such as feminine masturbation with a collection of peeled cucumbers…Ahem…I will say no more only to warn the curious that it’s unlike either Blade Runner or Pride and Prejudice…Gross,weird,funny,mad,sick,is a reasonable summary if that’s your bad taste but personally I want the full length version mooted on that other site,the better for a cleansing immersion in the filth that removeth recalcitrant sins, as it were…It’s bonkers fun,buy this one or await the other one.

Yes, this is no-budget comedy art porn. It’s funny and tasteless. If you haven’t got a sense of humour, you’ll hate it. The music is comedy porn music, mostly boogie-woogie done on a honky-tonk piano. The dialogue and acting are like a mad travesty of Tennessee Williams (that will be the George Kuchar influence). I first started going to the Scala Cinema in London in 1978 when it was in Tottenham Street, and I watched Thundercrack every time they showed it, so that I suspect the other reviewer and I were at some time in the same audience together. When Curt McDowell died of AIDS in 1987 his family destroyed all the prints and negs they could find of this film. The DVD is a Dutch release made from one of the surviving prints, but it’s not a very good one, and it doesn’t really bring back the good old days for me (when Bernigra’s Icecream parlour was still in Tottenham Court Rd, and The Sun in Lambs Conduit Street was not yet a Fosters emporium)
