This transfer is not worth a penny. Save your money and stay away from those Film Noir Glass Key DVDs. What a disappointment.

There is something innocent and non-threatening about 1940s, black and white films, harking back to a long gone, simpler era and this film certainly encapsulates that. I’m also just glad that someone is taking the to release these forgotten classics, al right the quality is questionable but for a print that is 70 years old, I’m not sure what we expect?

As mentioned already the quality isn’t brilliant – the usual picture sparkle and print scratching etc – but I have seen worse – a lot worse – and considering it’s age it is very viewable. It is worth owning this film though, and others from the genre, because it does have a place in cinematic history. Add to that the acting, very much of the time, and the long gone scenery, and you’ll have a blast.
