I bought one of these just before Christmas. It didn’t record programmes but a software update put this right. Plug in a 16 gig pen drive and you can record quite enough stuff to watch without losing track of your life. Advantages:
1 Works with existing Sky Dish without any alterations
2 Recorder is very handy at little extra cost
3 HD picture is really good
4 New update will be arriving soon with built in BBC IPlayer
5 Excellent build
Haven’t managed to connect my laptop yet which is a bit disappointing. On the plus side, I am watching TV more selectively instead of constant channel hopping, and am not being ripped off by Sky for watching BBC HD for an extra tenner a month when I can now get it for free.

First the negative stuff. A good reciever works well but the menu system takes a little getting used to. the text on the menu system is not well formed and looks a bit ragged. There is no picture in picture which is disapointing as my low res reciever has this which is handy when changing channels.I bought a 1 terabite drive and partitioned it so I could use half the space for the sat reciever and the other half for my computer.
Unlike the pvr recorders this device does not record in the background so you cannot catch up on a film if you miss the start time nor can you watch one side while recording the other as it only has one reciever built in.
The reciever is worth the money in my opinion due to the fact that it is a quality High Definition product looks well made with the channel being displayed on the device and when in standby mode displays the time. Easy to set up and connect a hard drive.

I purchased the HDFS and found it was everything and more of what i wanted, it is the best looking Freesat unit and with the VFD display it looks what it costs. But for me it was the fact i could watch my digitsl medis files via the card readers or USB ports PLUS i could stream wirelessly my files with the adaptor fitted. This is a really well built unit and with a 3 year guarantee i have no doubt i shall not chage it for at least that long!!

very nice optic and very good organization of the Channel , with an easy recording Function by an External Storage
what also as a very good Option is the ability by the Technisat Mode to scan other Programmes , I will recommend to other Friends !

I had a Bush Freesat box for about a year and was looking to update to a better model. And after reading reviews I decided to go for the Technisat mainly because of all the different things it could do. I have had it for nearly a month now and it’s a brilliant little box. Picture quality is sharp and much better than the Bush, it also picks up more Freesat channels than the old Bush box did, before I couldn’t pick up certain channels eg CBS Action now I can. I have added a Seagate 500GB hard drive to it to turn it into a single PVR before I never used to record anything but now I love that I can just record straight onto a hard drive and watch when I want, and the fact that it’s only a single PVR is not a problem as most TV’s and DVD players have Freeview built in now. I also bought the WLAN that goes with this as well this means you can network it with your computer (unless your on Windows 7) and stream music, pictures and video from your computer to your TV without a lot of expense. And now with BBC’s iPlayer now being available it also means I can catch up on programmes I have missed, and I must say the quality is really good. Add to this that it has 2 USB points a SD card reader and it really is a great piece of kit. Plus HD for free no extra £10 to Sky, as ITV HD channel has just launched and also you have BBC HD.
Highly recommened.
