If Patrick Moore has taught us anything (aside from his work on Gamesmaster… terrible business) it’s that the night sky is a tremendously beautiful thing. However thanks to the omnipresent orange fug that covers our major cities seeing it clearly is a bit of a struggle for those of us who don’t live in the countryside. Thankfully the AstroEye Planetarium projector is on hand to show us not only the wonders of the night sky but of whole constellations and star systems. It’s sort of like being in 2001: A Space Odyssey but without the psychotic computer and ballet music. Simply pop this attractive spherical projector unit into its bowl-shaped holder angle it up at the ceiling and turn it on. Immediately you’ll be awe-struck as over 8 000 stars gently revolve around the room. There are two slide discs for you to play with one with all the constellations marked on it and one without if you fancy a more natural experience. With a five-speed control you can control the speed of the rotation too. It’s even date-sensitive meaning that you can see the subtle movements of the stars from day to day. Best of all a press of a button will send a shooting star flying across your universe (though hopefully it won’t be replicated in reality – there’ll be meteors flying all over the place). It obviously works best at night or in a darkened room (we tried it out under a desk with mixed results) and is therefore brilliant as an alternative to a night-light or lamp or makes lovely mood lighting. With a sleep function that allows you to doze off without having to worry about turning it off. Perfect for anyone wanting to learn about astrology or those who want some interesting mood lighting the AstroEye Planetarium crams the whole universe into your bedroom.
Price : £ 69.99

Candles, whether it be in case of a power cut, setting a romantic or intimate atmosphere, or just general lighting it’s always a good idea to have some around. Unfortunately they can be a bit messy what with all that hot wax dripping and dribbling everywhere. Thankfully you can now have the versatility of candles without having to worry about the messy downside with these great Remote Control Mooncandles.

This iconic Marmite Money Jar is the perfect place to keep your coins – assuming you’re saving up to buy some more Marmite that is. And you should be seeing as it’s the best thing to put on your toast since… well since they started slicing bread up and toasting it. Whether you love or hate Marmite (apparently there’s some kind of debate about it) you’ll love filling up this oversized jar with bits of change. Incidentally we just popped to the shop to get some Marmite and it’s currently £2.34 for a 250g pot so you’d better get saving. Thankfully with the Marmite Money Jar there’s no better way.
Price : £ 16.97

Lightbulb moment in the shower? Now you can put it to paper! It’s worth stopping to consider the ideas theories and world-beating strategies that might’ve been lost in the shower. Who knows what lost classic song John Lennon could have hummed whilst sudding himself and then forgotten? What literary masterpiece tumbled out of Shakespeare’s head because he was busy with the loofah? If only they’d had the Waterproof Notebook on hand to scribble down their precious musings! Thankfully this problem won’t affect you if you get your (sopping wet) hands on one yourself. By some feat of Jacobean witchcraft (probably) it’s perfectly possible for you to write your innermost thoughts on this shower-safe little notepad. Or just a note to remind yourself to buy some loo roll. Either way your days of bathroom-based memory-loss are numbered. Next time you’re struck by genius in the bath just jot it down on this little lifesaver.
Price : £ 8.99

We all know how relaxing it is to sit back and listen to the gentle sounds of animals. Unfortunately to do this at home or at work usually requires lots of looking after, cleaning out, and feeding. Thankfully this is not the case with the Insect Cage Gallery. Simply pop the container on your desk, flick the switch and settle back to enjoy the sounds of nature as the gallery lights up, and the animal within sings away.
