This light-up noise-up Sabre is as close as you can get to a Galaxy Far Far Away. It’s made of durable plastic and it also has a nice rubberised grip so you don’t drop it mid-battle.Achieve total sci-fi cool – not only does the light-up blade make a powering-up noise when you turn it on it also hums constantly and reacts to your swishing with sound effects – you know the sort. And when you do bash it onto random surfaces the colour of the blade changes between red blue and purple. There’s a wealth of different realistic noises that you can delight in discovering (and a mute button thankfully). The Special FX Sabre is hilarious fun to play about with and all the more enjoyable with two. So if you’re getting one seriously think about who else would want one and if you could take them on in a duel. Certain to become the way in which all office disputes are now resolved.

Steampunk
In the first major YA steampunk anthology, fourteen top storytellers push the genre’s mix of sci-fi fantasy, history, and adventure in fascinating new directions. Imagine an alternate universe where romance and technology reign. Where tinkerers and dreamers craft and re-craft a world of automatons, clockworks, calculating machines, and other marvels that never were. Here, fourteen masters of speculative fiction, including two graphic storytellers, embrace the steampunk genre’s established themes and refashion them in surprising ways and settings as diverse as Appalachia, Ancient Rome, future Australia, and alternate California. The result is an anthology that defies its genre even as it defines it. This is the first YA anthology to focus exclusively on steampunk; genre defining and genre defying – with steampunk settings as diverse as Canada, New Zealand, Wales, Ancient Rome, future Australia, and alternate California. It includes top contributor line-up and editors with established adult/YA/cult following. It is a first-rate literary sci-fi/fantasy with crossover appeal.

Steampunk
Over the past fifteen years, Steampunk – a mash-up of Victorian and sci-fi aesthetics with a splash of punk rock attitude – has gone from being a literary movement to a part of pop culture and a way of life. This subculture celebrates the inventor as an artist and hero, re-envisioning and crafting retro technologies including antiquated airships and steam-powered robots. The Steampunk aesthetic now permeates movies, comics, fashion, art and more, and has given a distinct flavor to iconic events such as Maker Faire and the Burning Man festival. The Steampunk Bible is the first book of its kind, a fully illustrated compendium tracing the roots and history of this subculture, from the work of its godfathers Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, to the key figures who coined the word that would spawn a literary genre, to the vast community of craftsmen and artists who translated that spark into a lifestyle with clothing and accessories such as goggles, corsets, pocket watches, and with an attitude to match. This ultimate resource, filled with scores of illustrations and photographs, will appeal to aficionados and novices alike as author Jeff VanderMeer takes the reader on a wild ride through the clockwork corridors of Steampunk past, present and future.

Each player takes an ergonomically designed handle from the Sci-Fi style centre console, some rather scary music plays… then after a random period of time it suddenly stops, and a green activation light illuminates! Each player tries to hit the red button on their controller as quickly as possible. Rather like a 21st century version of a Victorian parlour game isn’t it? Well, no actually! You see, Victorian parlour games never electrocuted the losers!
