It doesn’t take long, does it? One moment Bond is wielding some achingly cool gadget, and before you know it it’s on the IWOOT website. Q’s furious of course. The Spy Video Watch is literally indistinguishable from a normal (and actually quite swanky) watch, but the crucial difference is that you can craftily record video and take photos thanks to the almost-invisible camera hidden in the number ‘2’ of the watch face. In fact, all the features on this genius little watch are extremely well-hidden. There’s a microphone and an LED indicator on there somewhere too, but they’re sufficiently unnoticeable for you to get on with the very important business of mucking about. The video quality is pretty amazing for such a tiny camera, and you’ll have no-end of fun trying to catch people up to no good (if that’s what you like doing). The stills are excellent too, so any Top Secret documents you might happen upon won’t go un-snapped (though it’s just as handy if you see Neville from accounts picking his nose and need some blackmail material? the choice is yours). The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is good for about 2 hours continuous sleuthing (with a full charge of 2-3 hours). It’s got a whopping 2GB capacity as well, so you don’t have to worry about clogging it up with pictures of your upside-down face, and getting your vids and pics off the watch and onto your computer is easy. Just plug the included USB cable into a port and treat it in the same way you would any other digital camera – your recordings will then be ready to upload to YouTube or send to whichever client you’re doing some private work for. Because it’s such a convincing watch as well (it tells the time and everything!), you’ll be able to snap and film all you like – and not a soul will know you’re doing it.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Thanks to Mike Myers’ wonderfully rude, lowbrow humour and his full-bodied understanding of who his character is, Wayne’s World proved to be that rare thing: a successful transition of a Saturday Night Live sketch to the big screen. Wayne Campbell (Myers) and his nerdy pal Garth (Dana Carvey) are teens who live at home and have their own low-rent cable-access show in Aurora, Illinios, in which they celebrate their favourite female film stars and heavy-metal bands. When a Chicago TV station smells a potential youth-audience ratings hit, the station’s weasely executive (Rob Lowe) tries to co-opt the show–and steal Wayne’s new rock ‘n’ roll girlfriend (Tia Carrere) at the same time. Like Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure before it (and the later Detroit Rock City), this is a film that affectionately parodies and celebrates slacker teenage culture. It’s also filled with all kinds of knowing spoofs of film conventions, from Wayne talking to the camera (while forbidding other characters to do so) and hilariously self-conscious product placements, to labelling a moment a “Gratuitous Sex Scene”. Dumb yet clever–and very funny. –Marshall Fine, Amazon.com

Amazon.co.uk Review
Given that Resident Evil is a Paul Anderson movie based on a computer game which was itself highly derivative (especially of George A Romero and James Cameron films), it’s probably unfair to complain that it hasn’t got an original idea or moment in its entire running time. In the early 1980s, Italian schlock films such as Zombie Flesh Eaters and Zombie Creeping Flesh tried to cram in as many moments restaged from American originals as possible, strung together by silly characters wandering between monster attacks. This is a much-improved, edited, photographed and directed version of the same gambit.
As amnesiac Milla Jovovich remembers amazing kung fu skills and anti-globalist Eric Mabius mutters about evil corporations, a gang of clichéd soldiers without a distinguishing feature between them (except for Michelle Rodriguez as a secondary tough chick) are trapped in an underground scientific compound at the mercy of a tyrannical computer–which manifests as a smug little-girl-o-gram–fending off flesh-eating zombies (though gore fans will be disappointed by the film’s need to stay within the limits of the 15 certificate) and CGI mutants, not to mention the ever-popular zombie dogs. It’s tolerably action-packed, but zips past its borrowings (Aliens, Cube, Deep Blue Sea) without adding anything that future schlock pictures will want to imitate. — Kim Newman
