Solar energy really seems to be taking off and it’s about time too. The 6 in 1 Solar Robot Kit takes full advantage of that flaming ball of gas not 93 000 000 miles away we lovingly call the sun. It’s a DIY beginner’s kit that’s perfect for anyone with more than a passing interest in robots (which is everyone surely?). You can build the kit 6 different ways which means once you’ve finished making one robot you can take it apart and turn it into a solar powered boat windmill or car and that’s just 3 of them. The diagrams are very easy to follow we even let the office luddite have a go at building one. Not only is it really fun to make but it’s great for showing you solar power in action so it’s educational as well as fun to make. If you live somewhere that doesn’t get a lot of sunlight (anywhere in mainland UK for instance) you’ll be very happy to hear that the sun isn’t the only source of energy this kit can draw power from. A 50 watt halogen lightbulb will do the trick meaning you can even play with your robot on those rainy winter days. The 6 in 1 Solar Robot kit is just the ticket for the eco conscious roboteer.
Price : £ 9.99

Lightbulb moment in the shower? Now you can put it to paper! It’s worth stopping to consider the ideas theories and world-beating strategies that might’ve been lost in the shower. Who knows what lost classic song John Lennon could have hummed whilst sudding himself and then forgotten? What literary masterpiece tumbled out of Shakespeare’s head because he was busy with the loofah? If only they’d had the Waterproof Notebook on hand to scribble down their precious musings! Thankfully this problem won’t affect you if you get your (sopping wet) hands on one yourself. By some feat of Jacobean witchcraft (probably) it’s perfectly possible for you to write your innermost thoughts on this shower-safe little notepad. Or just a note to remind yourself to buy some loo roll. Either way your days of bathroom-based memory-loss are numbered. Next time you’re struck by genius in the bath just jot it down on this little lifesaver.

Product Description
When the standard lightbulb was invented, naturally, we applauded. But science means progress – and the world is now looking for alternative ways to light up our homes. This is one of the best we’ve found. Inside the Sun Jar is a highly efficient solar cell, a rechargeable battery and three low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in direct sunlight, the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. When it gets dark or lights are turned off, this energy powers the three natural-coloured LED lamps inside the jar. The frosted glass of the jar then diffuses the light, giving the appearance of trapped sunlight.
- Solar panel
- Beautifully designed into a traditonal masons storage jar
- The solar panel charges the light during the day and sensors switch on at dusk to create a warm mood light
- Suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage
- 105 x 105 x 160 mm frosted jar
- Water proof
