During his lifetime Zevon never quite achieved the recognition he deserved, but he did build up a huge cult following and critical acclaim for his songwriting from some of the biggest names in the music industry. When he was diagnosed with cancer he asked his estranged wife Crystal Zevon to take notes for a ‘no-hold-barred’ oral biography and insight into the Los Angeles music scene at the top of it’s game. In 1998, the Coen Brothers followed the global success of their smash hit “Fargo” with a rambling tale of lies, corruption and bowling in early 90s “L.A. – The Big Lebowski”. It flopped at the box office. But in the years that followed, the movie took on a life of its own, spawning a culture of quotable lines, White Russians and even Lebowski Fest, an annual event attracting thousands of Big Lebowski die-hards. “I’m a Lebowski, You’re a Lebowski (“That’s terrific”) the curators of Lebowski Fest” offers the complete guide to one of the few true cult movies of the last twenty years, with photographs, real locations and interviews with the stars of the film, including John Turturro, John Goodman, Julianne Moore and Steve Buscemi – and a foreword by the Dude himself, Jeff Bridges. The book also contains a glossary, trivia questions and the ultimate soundtrack listing – in other words, the whole Lebowski. “Within the pages of this book, you’ll find out how to order a White Russian like an Achiever, how to react when an Asian-American pees on your rug, how to think like a nihilist, and more. You’ll also read interviews with the real-life eccentrics who inspired the film’s main characters, the actors who played them, and the famous siblings who conjured the whole thing up. We’ll throw ourselves into the mix as well, hopping into our own Dude-mobile (a 1972 Plymouth Fury III, complete with rust colorations just like the movie) to journey around the country gathering interviews and anecdotes. We’ll also reveal our own stories about how we came to love the movie and launch Lebowski Fest.”

Aside from the risk of accidentally posting it there’s nothing about your life that won’t be improved by having a wallet that looks uncannily like an Air Mail envelope. You see though it’s obviously quite a cool wallet to have for that resemblance alone it’s also a super-strong near-indestructible wallet too. Made of Tyvek it is constructed of densely-woven polyethylene fibres that are extremely tough and quite cheeringly 100% recyclable. But of course the main reason you’d want one isn’t the cleverness behind it it’s the casual thrill of alarming your friends by seemingly pulling all your money out of nothing more secure than an Air Mail envelope. It’s got space for about 16 credit cards and all the cash you might have on you so you don’t have to worry about sacrificing practicality for a quirky look.

David Lynch (USA, b. 1946) is perhaps the best known of all cult directors, whose Mulholland Drive marks cinema’s arrival to the 21st century. His career began more than 30 years ago, with the groundbreaking, mystifying “Eraserhead” (1977). With “Blue Velvet” (1986), “Wild at Heart” (1990) and “Lost Highway” (1997) Lynch breathed new life into the sensory experiences of film audiences and disrupted narrative logic to mysterious and mystifying effect. In the early 1990s, he invented a new TV series genre with “Twin Peaks”. Although he is a Hollywood director, Lynch works at the edges of the studio system, exploring the many facets of his artistic talent, whose creations, including photography, painting and music, are now making their way into museums and galleries.
