Solid, attractive accessory to your cherished Kindle, 20 Oct 2010
This review is from: DURAGADGET New Black Genuine Leather Case/Cover With Adjustable Stand For New 2010 Amazon Kindle 3, Amazon Kindle 3 Case, Amazon Kindle 3g case, Amazon Kindle Wi-Fi Case, 6″ Display, Kindle Graphite, Latest Generation
Clearly the official Amazon covers are not worth the premium. So which alternative to go for? I can speak only for the Duragadget. I have been using it for nearly a month and am very pleased. The case is attractive, tough and gives very good protection for the Kindle when carrying it around in an overloaded bag. All controls are totally accessible. The Kindle will never drop out of the case as there are no elastic grips securing it, unlike some other products on the market. Despite the added weight you can still comfortably hold the covered device in one hand. However I have come to really appreciate the stand. This gives you the alternative of reading hands free. The in-car charger is an added bonus at the price. In conclusion I would recommend this excellent product.

A well made, well thought out case, 30 Sep 2010
This review is from: DURAGADGET New Black Genuine Leather Case/Cover With Adjustable Stand For New 2010 Amazon Kindle 3, Amazon Kindle 3 Case, Amazon Kindle 3g case, Amazon Kindle Wi-Fi Case, 6″ Display, Kindle Graphite, Latest Generation
I bought this case a simple way of protecting my kindle from knocks and bangs when out and about. I didn’t want to spend too much so chose this “duragadget” case. I received the case before the release date which was a pleasant surprise to be one of the first customers to get one.
To the case itself, it’s as I’ve said a simple enough thing, nice leather on the outside which is aesthetically pleasing and nice to the touch. The inside is a tougher material which is good as it protects what appears to be a quite fragile piece of electronics. The stand is quite ingenious, the big drawback with reading a book or even the kindle normally is having to hold the thing, with this case you can stand it on your lap, the table on the train or where ever and get a spot on viewing angle by moving the leg, hands free. The magnetic closure keeps everything where it should be, and the cutouts give access to everything you need, including the charge/sync port on the base of the kindle.
The car charger was an added bonus, kindles do have a very good battery life, but its not infinite so a secondary way of charging it when traveling is a great bonus. It also happens to fit my blackberry, which doesn’t have such battery claims!
So to sum up, a simple case that does everything i need it to, no bells, whistles or designer motifs – but this is what i was looking for, and at good value. (about 1/3 the price of amazons kindle insurance and far more useful!)

The Heathers are a clique of bitchy classmates in this dark comedy from 1989. The film itself was a good showcase for Winona Ryder, the Queen of Teen in the late 1980s, playing a high-school girl forced into the social world of “the Heathers”, and Christian Slater, doing his early Jack Nicholson thing. While Ryder’s character muddles over the consequences of giving up one set of friends for another, her association with the new boy in school (Slater) turns out to have deadly consequences. Director Michael Lehmann turned this unusual film into something more than another teen-death flick. There is real wit and sharp satire afoot, and the fusion of horror and comedy is provocative in itself. Heathers remains a kind of benchmark in contemporary cinema for bringing surreal intelligence into Hollywood films. –Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

When Goldie Hawn recommended Elizabeth Berkley for a small role in First Wives Club, she publicly stated that Berkley deserved the opportunity to redeem herself after starring in the ridiculous Showgirls. That says it all: this sleazy, stupid movie, which mixes soft pornography with the clichés of backstage dramas, is the kind of project an aspiring actress would have to put well behind her to keep a career going (though co-star Gina Gershon certainly benefited from her, uh, exposure in the film). Berkley plays a drifter who hitches a ride to Las Vegas, becomes a lap dancer and then a performer, and discovers–gasp!–there’s a whole world of sex and violence involved with these things. Gershon is probably the best element in the film, playing Berkley’s bisexual rival for the big spotlight on stage. Joe Eszterhas was well overpaid for writing this howler, and director Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct) should have known better than to take it seriously. –Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

Black comedies don’t come much blacker than cult favourite, Harold and Maude (1972), and they don’t come much funnier either. It seems that director Hal Ashby was the perfect choice to mine a load of eccentricity from the original Colin Higgins script, about the unlikely romance between a death-obsessed 19-year-old named Harold (Bud Cort) and a life-loving 79-year-old widow named Maude (Ruth Gordon). They meet at a funeral, and Maude finds something oddly appealing about Harold, urging him to “reach out” and grab life by the lapels as opposed to dwelling morbidly on mortality. Harold grows fond of the old gal–she’s a lot more fun than the girls his mother desperately tries to match him up with- -and together they make Harold and Maude one of the sweetest and most unconventional love stories ever made. Much of the early humour arises from Harold’ s outrageous suicide fantasies, played out as a kind of twisted parlour game to mortify his mother, who has grown immune to her strange son’s antics. Gradually, however, the film’s clever humour shifts to a brighter outlook and finally arrives at a point where Harold is truly happy to be alive. Featuring soundtrack songs by Cat Stevens, this comedy certainly won’t appeal to all tastes (it was a box-office flop when first released), but if you’re on its quirky wavelength, it might just strike you as one of the funniest films you’ve ever seen. –Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com

This quality 1.2m cable connects your iPod, iPhone 3G(S) + 4G, mp3 player or phone to your car via the aux in socket (present on many modern cars). This allows you to listen to your music from the iPod through your car’s stereo system with excellent sound quality. The cables have a robust design with dual moulded connecters – this means they last longer than other cheaper cables and so do not need replacing. The cables also have 24k gold plated connectors and a low loss wire core to ensure great sound quality that lasts. They are ROHS compliant meaning they fully comply with the latest European standards. The cables are compatible with cars which have a 3.5 mm aux input into stereo. These look like headphone sockets and may be located in the stereo unit, glove box or centre console. Most new cars now have these inputs, as well as many older Fords, BMW’s, Toyotas, Mercedes and Seat models. If you are not sure about compatibility just send us a message through Amazon. The cables can also be used to connect PC’s with headphone sockets to speaker systems or iPods to music centers / digital radios etc. If you are concerned about quality, look at this items feedback rating. You can also click on incarcables above to see our recent seller feedback. The cable is compatible with ALL iPods and the more recent 3G, 3GS and 4G iPhone. It is also compatible with pretty much every mp3 player. The only thing it will not work with is the original iPhone. It will also not work with the new (4G) iPod nano when the dock connector cable is plugged in at the same time. This cable (1.2m) is our most popular size. We also have 50cm and 30cm available!

Of all the Philip Marlowes, Robert Mitchum’s in Farewell, My Lovely resonates most deeply. That’s because this is Marlowe past his prime, and Mitchum imbues Raymond Chandler’s legendary private detective with a sense of maturity as well as a melancholy spirit. And yet there is plenty of Mitchum’s renowned self-deprecating humour and charismatic charm to remind us of his own iconic presence. As in the previous 1944 film version, Murder, My Sweet, Marlowe searches all over L.A. for the elusive girlfriend of ex-con Moose Malloy, a loveable giant who might as well be King Kong. In typical Chandler fashion, the weary Marlowe uncovers a hotbed of lust, corruption and betrayal. Like Malloy, he’s disillusioned by it all, despite his tough exterior, and possesses a tinge of sentimentality for the good old days. About the only current dream he can hold onto is Joe DiMaggio and his fabulous hitting streak. Made in 1975, a year after Chinatown (shot by the same cinematographer, John Alonzo), Farewell, My Lovely is more straightforward and nostalgic, but still possesses a requisite hard-boiled edge, and the best kind of angst the 1970s had to offer. (By the way, you will notice Sylvester Stallone in a rather violent cameo, a year before his Rocky breakthrough.) –Bill Desowitz, Amazon.com
