What a cool bit of kit! It doesn’t need drivers of any kind because its class compliant and works great on Mac and windows, not tested on Linux yet but theres no reason why it shouldn’t work on that too. To change its settings simply modify a text file, included on the CD and save it into the root directory on the memory card you’re using. The device reads the file, updates its settings then deletes the file. Very clever way of working.
The ONLY issue I have with this otherwise excellent device relates to Mac users. Most Macs have slot loading drives. The disc supplied is a MINI CD and if you put this little beastie into one of those drives your mac will end up back with apple for repair before it even has chance to read the disc!!!. So, If you’re desperate to read the info on the supplied disc, make sure you have a tray drive. But for mac/linux users the only reason you would want to use the supplied disc is to copy the settings file. Luckily the info required to make the text file is also printed on the manual page supplied (if you can understand the terribly translated english).
Image quality is surprisingly good despite the tiny lens. The device is about the size of a car bleeper and unless anyone takes a close look, thats what they’ll assume it is. The only giveaway being the usb connector.
