I bought this to charge my Sony PRS700 e-reader and it works well.
Also as a bonus, the reader can be used while it’s charging, something you can’t do when its charging from the computer!
A good economical alternative way to charge the reader.
ETA: Jun ’10 Still going strong after a year, also seems to charge quicker than the original Sony. Reader is used every day, a lot with the light at night, so the charger also gets frequent use.
