I bought this spell checker to use with my English class for adults, several of whom are dylexic. I decided to try it out by using the word ‘height’ and so I typed it as ‘hight’. The answer came up ‘correctly spelled’. I was baffled, and looked the word up in my Oxford English Dictionary. I found ‘hight’ the definition of which is given as ‘(archaic or literary) named: a little pest, hight Tommy Moore.’

Other words produced similar responses – the words are correct but there are so many of them (some of them very obscure) that it is sometimes necessary to scroll through a great many to find the correct spelling of the intended word.

It would be a wonderful tool for a crossword enthusiast, but it is not really very helpful if you don’t know how to spell.

“Overall a good purshase, all functions work well, a bit of a muddle on getting crossword & anagram options however have got the hang of it quite quickly. ideal for word check, and crosswords. had previous models and rate this the best so far. order recieved within three days, postage bit high.”

I brought this for my 11yrs dyslexic daughter and it has really made a difference to her English lessons. It is easy to use and I would throughly recommend it.

Well made, clear and easy to use with the reassurance this is the Oxford English dictionary, what more do you need from an English spellchecker?

Find it a very useful tool to have, but the dotted letters on it’s screen not so good to see without my glasses on.
