This laptop is a decent unit for all-round computing.
It boots up in reasonably quickly, and the dual core Pentium processor is man enough to allow you to do two tasks at once with no lag. You can easily run a virus scan whilst browsing the internet or viewing a dvd with no noticable slowdown to either application.
It will run some of the less demanding 3D games with reasonable performance considering it uses an intergrated Intel GPU. If you are going to do alot of gaming on the go though you will have to spend more and get a machine with better graphics hardware. But then you would expect that for this price. The operating system (Windows 7) is quick and simple to use and 2 gigabytes of RAM is ample in a laptop of this spec. The 250 gigabyte hard disk drive is also large enough to be useful for storing photos/music/video.
The intergrated wireless network card gives decent performance and works ok with basic spectrum analysis software like ‘InSSIDer’ (not Netstumbler), this is useful for finding WAPs and wireless routers in your vacinity and also configuring yours not to interfere with your neighbour’s.
The exterior of the laptop is nice looking, the glossy red lid and brushed steel effect surround go together nicely. The illuminated (blue surround)touchpad is abit of an acquired taste though!
The battery gives you about two hours plus use for general computing which is not bad considering the machine specs.
All in all, worth the money!
