I have just bought one of the TV’s and it is amazing. I can’t quite see how S. Ginsberg gives it only one star when he hasn’t even tried one – Works perfect in 3D through the PS3! Bluray is fantastic on it as is the Freeview HD. TV also looks fantastic with it’s black and clear surround. You wouldn’t know it’s an LCD when watching it – I don’t personally think the LED’s are worth the extra cash.
Internet works well although I’m not sure how much I’ll use it as the PS3 also has iPlayer built in. The Love Film app lets you stream films if you are a member.
I also like the fact that the built in planner lets you record programs to either a memory stick or HDD eliminating the need for a PVR!
All in all, I would highly recommend this TV.
Don’t forget to order your free pair of 3D glasses through the Samsung Connect website.

This is my first thin TV as I have just replaced my 36″ Philips 100hz Pixel Plus CRT TV! After a lot of shopping around, I ended up buying this from John Lewis for £1199 because of their free delivery and ‘free’ 5 year guarantee (as I ordered it before seeing it in a store)! All in all, I am quite happy with my purchase, i was a little annoyed when i unboxed the TV to discover it IS an LCD TV as such; its not LED; is not as thin as an LED TV or have any of the LED backlight features (despite the images on samsung website and other websites)!
The 3D TV feature only works when watching through 1.4 HDMI or SCART connections ( it has 3 actual SCART connectors, not the mini SCART you get with Samsung LED TVs), the 2D to 3D conversion is good because as the previous review says, it does add depth to the images and make them stand out from their backgrounds but not actually jump out from the screen which was a little disappointing! The other 2 functions are for whether the image is being shown next to each other or on top of eachother as you get on Youtube 3D…. which leads me on to my next issue, 3D TV functionality does not work with Internet functions, so no 3D content via youtube or via USB (external media).
The internet functionality is good though, you have lovefilm (not tried yet) and youtube which is pretty good with no lag and all the content, (i connected ethernet cable directly opposed to buying the dongle). There are also google maps (without streetview); facebook which follows a different interface to any other device ive experienced, twitter amongst numerous samsung applications/games to enjoy too. The function also allows multiple users to login via passwords so the entire household can access their respective accounts opposed to using just the one! Also the remote is used as keyboard through numbers (i’d compare it to sending texts from an old chunky nokia). Could of done with actual internet functionality though; google search and browsers etc.
As for actual 3D via samsung blu ray 3d surround system = AMAZING! Compared to Samsung Series 7 LED 3DTV its almost as bright but its certainly as sharp, the blacks arent as black as the LED blacks but i didnt experience any pixelation or double images (seeing double through the 3D specs). Not enough 3D content on the market just yet but im hoping to link the PS3 and enjoy 3D media playback (not tried it yet, but hope it works when its launched)!
As for sound, this has the downward facing speakers that are certainly louder than the LED TV speakers ive tested on other Samsung’s. I bought the 3d blu ray surround sound anyway!
It has 2 USB slots on the back which ive used to link up my external hard drives; plays back music, pictures and video (.avi and .mkv) through a very friendly interface with no problems whatsoever other than cant play back 3D media.
So why should you buy this 40″ LCD HD TV with 3D TV and Internet functionality – Its 200hz, produces stunning HD playback through freeview hd as well as Sky HD, its got some decent internet functions, 3D playback is as good as LED TVs. It may not be as thin when looking at it from the side but its certainly £500 to £750 cheaper than the 3D LED TV sets on the market.
Note: You dont get any 3D specs with the TV but you if you go to samsung connect you can get a free pair through redeeming supplied voucher code.

I placed my order for this item on Friday before 3pm and it arrived the next day, Saturday at 11am. I have to say I’m extremely impressed with this TV. I was orginally going to go for one of the entry-level models in Samsung’s LED range until I started to do my homework.
The picture quality is incredible and is a testament to the years of research and development that Samsung has invested in perfecting LCD technology. What amazed me was how well the TV produced realistic black colours – an issue many LCDs TVs suffer from. Again there is very little motion drag/ghosting with fast action scenes and the refresh rate is a whopping 200Mhz, another issue which plagues many LCD/LED TVs. It’s true Samsung’s LED range look absolutely incredible but they are also very expensive. To buy the equivilant TV you would have to shell out another grand which is seriously not worth it. The TV is jam packed with amazing top of the range features, including 3D TV, HD Freeview (incredibly I didn’t know it existed), Internet, Skype and a whole load of other stuff. I think the TV has got some amazing processors built into it because it upscales standard digital tv amazingly well. The speakers arn’t too bad either. The best bit is the 3D technology. It can convert 2D TV to 3D TV, although it doesn’t look that realistic yet. I’ve seen a 3D Samsung movie in a showroom and its looks amazing, much better that 3D movies in the cinema. All I can say is that this TV is amazing value for money and it is worth every penny. A LED TV in the same price range just doesn’t stack up (no 3D, no HD Freeview and a 50Mhz image refresh rate). I plan to keep this TV for a good 10 year. Remember do your homework!!
BY THE WAY A PAIR OF 3D GLASSES, LENSE CLOTH, BATTERY AND INSTRUCTIONS ARE INCLUDED WITH THIS TV. AMAZON’S ADVERT IS WRONG. DON’T THROW THEM OUT LIKE I ALMOST DID, THEY’RE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX AND ARE WORTH ABOUT £60.

Comet or Currys offer the same product for £250 more. The thing in question is do you need 3D. It is cutting edge technology with only one 3D Blu Ray disc available. The simple answer is this TV without 3D is stunning. Perfect picture quality, internet TV access and any product attached to it is easily accessible, Samsung 6900 Blu Ray player plays DVD and Blu ray discs and the 3D is stunning. Forget the films you have seen in the cinema, Samsung offers perfect 3D in the home. The difference is incredible.
Add the Samsung Dongle and it takes minutes to connect to your wireless network and access files on your PC that can be shown on your Samsung 750. The manual doesnt mention the software that you require to access your files. Its called Samsung PC Share Manager and you can download it from the Samsung website. Youtube can be accessed directly from the TV itself.
Play anything in 2D to 3D mode and you get adjusted depth of field for that show. Mel Gibsons Apocalyptica on DVD looks really good in this mode. The sound is very good so dont believe what some industry reviews tell you. I actually dont believe they have hands on information about this TV. Add a USB drive and you can record progs with a timer onto the USB drive for later playback. Freeview HD is superb.
To sum up this TV is technology now but ready for the upcoming 3D market. With only one Blu Ray disc available at the moment you are taking a big chance. Without 3D this TV is stunning. Roll on the upcoming 3D releases and you wont regret your decision.

I have just had this TV delivered and after having a little play with it, I can safely say that I am impressed. It looks great and all the extra features are fantastic. We tested out the media share by plugging in a basic usb stick and it was so easy to play from. The only problem I had with it was after turning off the motion plus feature; it still played with it on. This was only when playing through the usb so I need to look into how to turn it off permanently but other than that it’s been fantastic.
I won’t go into lots more detail but I will just say that for the price of the machine you can’t do much better and even if you don’t want to use the 3d function it still looks and works great.
Oh and there WAS a pair of 3d glasses in the bottom of the box. It is in a small white rectangular box in the bottom left corner with its own slow in the Styrofoam. So make sure you check that first before throwing out the box.
