The Samsung ES63 is a nice little point and click camera. Picture quality is quite good when used in sun light, but the flash can be quite poor in low light conditions – when used close up it completely saturates the picture and over any distance it is useless. 12 MP pictures allow you to print large copies (A3) but also allow you to crop pictures quite drastically and still have a decent sized picture at the end.

My main gripe with this camera is that you cannot really change any of the settings on it. There is no white balance adjustment, no shutter speed, no anything to change – you point it and you click the button. If that is what you want to do then it’s a great little camera. Battery life is exceptionally good – you can take 100s of photos on a single charge. You can add upto 8GB SDHD cards into the camera which gives you the capacity to store 1200 photos at 12MP in superfine detail. The display on the back of the camera is quite good, so you can see your photos easily on the camera without having to resort to using a PC. You don’t get a carry case, so you may want to buy one.

This is a very nice little compact camera that punches well above its weight in terms of quiality and feature.

The sensor has 12 MP so yo can enlarge pictures for framing up to A3 with no problems.

The pictures are nice and sharp and reproduce colour with accuracy, particularly in bright conditions.

The camera itself is small and compact and fits in any pocket easily.

The 2.5 inch screen is large enough for this unit and if it was any larger it will not fit in ,although is clear and bright, though it tends to reflect sunshine in very bright conditions, making it harder to compose a shot accurately. There’s no viewfinder that you can use as an alternative.

The zoom is only x 3 which is adequate for this camera as it main use is not wildlife.

It is slightly harder to do landscapes as there is no much wide focus being a 35 mm equivalent.

The ES60’s movie mode is not particularly good, and you won’t be able to make movies of digital camcorder quality, but for the occasional quick video clip the camera does a decent job nicely.

There is face detection to help you maintain focus on individuals within your shots, and the ES60 offers 12 scene modes to quickly give the camera the ideal settings for certain photography conditions.

It takes a SD memory type card.

Overall a nice compact little camera.

I brought myself a Samsung ES63 for Christmas and the quality is fantastic. I was able to zoom in to pictures I had taken and see all of the detail. It’s light weight and the battery lasts for ages

Having noted the boxed weight I was rather cautious about proceeding … it could be heavier than my old one; in fact it was considerably lighter. Personally I’d still prefer a printed manual to a CD. Although there appear to many slightly cheaper cameras with similar specifications the key factor was power source – I definitely made the right decision in this respect. I like the single lead for battery charging and transferring images to a computer. Unfortunately I dropped it onto a paved surface on its first outing but, remarkably, that doesn’t seem to have damaged it.

As usual with Amazon it was delivered in half the expected time.

I took this camera to the caribbean for a two week fairly intensive holiday. It was mainly used on nights out and for taking photos at cricket. It took very good snaps throughout although on longer distance shots it does not have brilliant zoom. Did the job extremely well though and very happy with it.
