We were looking for a DAB radio for my mother who is a 90 year old technophobe. Most of the models we looked at had small control buttons – particularly the station pre-set buttons, or in some cases the pre-set facility required two actions. The Elise has very simple, well laid out controls with the added advantage of a large, tactile volume control. It was very easy to set-up and the sound is really quite good for a single speaker radio. We have not yet tried it on FM stations as the digital reception is excellent for all her favourite stations. Her verdict is ‘absolutely marvellous’.
The only criticism is that battery life appears to be quite limited (even though the display does dim when battery power is used) – it would help if Roberts were to incorporate their ‘Ecologic’ functionality into the Elise.

Functional, but a bit thin sound-wise. A more substantial case and speaker is probably what I want, but this is fine for cleaning teeth to the Today programme. It’s light and easily portable for domestic pottering in other words.

Bought a radio at my wife’s request, didn’t know what I was buying, really. Choice of colurs black or white, either of which would have suited the decor of the kitchen. Inexplicably the white one was half the price of the black one, Q.E.D. We are pleased with the performance so far, but have heard many tales of the unreliability of digital radios, so we shall see!
