I was a little dubious about this charger after reading some unfavourable reviews but since there were many positive ones and a UK presence for backup I went ahead. Very well made and rugged with most common adaptors supplied, with others available from Powertraveller. Charges my Nokia phone and DS Lite, no problem. Using the solar charger to recharge the powermonkey rated at 2200mAh it still charges on a sunny indoor windowsill, albeit slowly, but performs much better outside on a sunny or even a cloudy day. Manufacturers claims for charging rates are pretty much correct. If you are going where there is no power (ie moderate populated camping sites)then it will charge your phone and small gadgets ok. For going further afield into the wilds I would want something more powerful like the solar & power gorilla which approx. 5 x the price

I received my power monkey last week and I have found that it does what it says on the tin. To charge the power monkey fully using Solar charger takes three days (as stated in the instructions, but a days solar charge will restore 75% power to my Blackberry Storm. Charging from the mains gives 100% charge in four to five hours. I read a review saying what is the point of mains charging as you can just charge the device, Yeah your avarage frendily Airport or Train Station invites all to plug their chargers into their mains. This is a great peice of equipment for the traveler, allowing you to regharge your equipment when mains power is not available.

Basically a very useful little gadget that does what it describes. Use the solar panel, the mains cable or a USB cable to charge the rechargable battery which in turn is used to recharge your phone/Ipod etc. Worked well on a recent 3 week trip to Chile where I had no power most of the time.
Thoroughly recommended.

I agree with the other reviews the solar panel does take a few days to charge the power monkey but this is free energy. I managed to charge a mobile phone and ipod with the tips supplied but you can purchase other tips. You can charge the Power Monkey via the solar panel, Mains adaptor and via USB from a laptop or PC. A good product I’ve even used the ipod tip with the mains adaptor to charge my ipod.
