Look I don’t know if it something funny about my ears but every pair of headphones I’ve bought have been next to useless. And I’ve bought a lot. This year alone I have tried about 5 different pairs all purporting to be suitable for sports. Nope sorry. Best case they pop out of my ears after about 500m and then hang on just thanks to ear hook. Worst case they just fall out and dangle out of my shirt.

I often wondered why on earth don’t any of the manufacturers make a true in-ear (i.e. ear canal) headphone why an ear-hook. And voila … I found the Philips SHS8000. It just makes so much sense, in your ears not flapping around on the outside and hooked over the top to take the weight away from the dangling cables.

And guess what, they actually work! They actually stay in your ears when jogging (and by jogging I mean serious 4 minutes k’s or 6 minute mile kind of stuff, i.e. not slow treadmill / gym stuff).

It’s not rocket-science … ear-canal with ear-hooks. Done. Stop wasting your time with any other headphones and just buy these.

I am a bit of an audiophile: I have owned over 20 or so models of earhpones and headphones, built by Sennheiser, Sony, Creative, Bose, Shure, Griffin, and even the Klipsch Image. I am happy to say that these Phillips Earhook’s put up a good fight.

Comfort: these fit perfectly. The supplied rubber buds come in many sizes, and do not irritate the ear. The left wire length matches the right wire length, which is extremely important. The ear-hook is well designed and properly proportioned.

Noise isolation: EVEN IF THE EARPHONES ARE NOT PLUGGED IN, these will eliminate much of the background ambience. Perfect if you need to concentrate when reading something on a flight or in a public library without actually listening to music. That’s how good these are.

Audio quality: Excellent mid and high tones. No noticeable static or hiss. Excellent for listening to classical music. Contrary to other reviewers, I found that the bass on this is very powerful compared to other earphones available over Amazon, except Klipsch Image (which are the best that money can buy, but they also are more expensive). Of course Phillips Earhook earphones will not give you as much bass kick as a pair of headphones, but at this price, the bass quality is a steal.

Build quality: these will withstand a good amount of wear-and-tear, and will hold their own in rain and wind. The ear-hook is sturdy. I wore these outside during the wind and storm a couple of weeks ago.

OVERALL: tremendous quality, even at this price. Judging on comfort, these are the best. Judging on sound quality, these come second after the Klipsch Images. Judging on value-for-money, these are a steal. If you are thinking about getting Shures, Sennheisers or Creatives, try these first, you will not be disappointed. The only drawback: no volume control wheel. But that is a very common drawback.

Ive tried so many different ear phones trying to find the right ones and these are them! I loved the Creative in-ear phones for their sound quality but when you run, they fall out. The others, especially TDK, I’ve found completely lose the bass and other subtle nuances of music, and it just sounds tinny and ‘thin’. These are so clear, deliver great sound, and block out so much surrounding noise. So comfortable and I can mostly not feel them. And they dont fall out when you run! I doubt you can buy better earphones for this price.

So glad I didn’t take any notice of negative reviews on these headphones.Bought a pair and was delighted, needed a bit of experimenting with the different sized rubber seals but when I finally got the correct size fitting they were brilliant used them with my MP3, my pure evoke 3 dab radio and my PC.Anybody who says”there is no bass has obviously not fitted the correct sized rubber seal, what I did was fit a different size in each ear then applied a little pressure to each side, whichever side IMPROVED with a little pressure I then REMOVED and changed for an equal size to the other ear,if you persist you will finally get a great sound(a light smear of vaseline on the rubber will help as the rubber tends to be quite dry).Think I will buy another pair in case they sell out.

The good news – they do NOT fall out of your ears when running, you barely know they’re there.

The bad news – the bass isn’t that great – but as I only use these for gym/running thats not to much of a problem.

I have had mine for a few weeks now, and I can’t use them any more as the rubber “bung” thing that fits on the headphone to keep it a comfortable fit in your ear canal is always somehow coming off, now I have none left from the original phones, so I either need to find where I can buy spares, or buy a new set of headphones!! Which is a great shame, as I like these.
