This is a very good DVD player and great value for money.
Having read some of the other reviews, I tried to set it up as multi-region, but had some difficulties. After a bit of fiddling around, I found that this worked:
1. Open the tray
2. Press the “info” button (this step was missing from the previous reviewer’s instructions)
2. Type “98790” on the remote control. The 0 can be substituted for any other region if you’d prefer… “0” is the multi-region code)
3. Press “OK”
Then it gives an on screen message that the region code has been changed, though it still shows the previous region code on the info screen until you go back out and into the info screen again afresh.
Thanks to the previous reviewers for the key information that I’ve only slightly added to here.
Buy one.

The Phillips DVP3310 is a lovely little machine – slim, sleek, ultra-simple “plug in and play”, does everything it says on the tin …well, I guess so, because I actually only bought it to play dvds, not my music collection or photo collection as well. Anyways, it gets great reviews everywhere and, going by the picture quality even on my old tv in the office, it deserves all the praise it gets. The only niggle is the fact that you cannot turn the machine off; it is either in play mode or on stand-by, not quite as energy – and money – saving as you would expect nowadays.
The nicest feature, though, is the fact that, contrary to some comments on the web, it CAN be turned into a multi-region/region 0 player! Hooray! For a moment there I feared half of my dvd collection would go unseen from now on, but then a very nice person on the internet tried and tried until their little fingers bled (I’m embellishing here just a bit, I hope) and gave us the the answer all owners of multi-region dvd hoards have been waiting for:
1. Open the tray
2. Press “9879”, followed by the desired region code (“0″ for all regions/region-free/multi-region)
3. Press “OK”
And give your unending gratitude to “Flickboy”, who originally posted this. Supposedly, it is a code already used by Phillips for another model, but it really works.
So have unlimited fun with this great little player

I bought this from a local supermarket because it says it plays any disc,£33,i couldnt believe it.When i got it home could not get it to play region 1,so i went to a website and got a code but when i got the codes ,phillips dvp3310 seemed to be the only one not on the list of over a thousand players.I thought i would have to return it then by chance i looked it up on amazon and lo and behold didnt i see crimecats review ,brilliant! Thanks also to flickboy. This machine also has a great memory if you pause at night to go to sleep it will go off and when you turn it on again it starts at the place you left off so you do not have to keep it on all night when you just cant keep your eyes open.I personally think this is a very handy thing as i do tend to watch movies in more than one sitting. Not bad for £33.

Very nice little player, does everything my old player did and more, and the 0 region bit works nicely. I was a bit worried at first but am now playing my ntsc and pal dvds well. Only niggly thing is its quite noisy when its reading a disc and when skipping through the chapters, particularly when loading up, but once your playing the film its wonderful. Plus unlike my previous Sony one, you can customize the screen, zoom in, letterbox etc.

I bought this DVD player because it came up in my search for multi-region dvd players, Up-scaling and multi-compartible are not the same as MULTI-REGION. Please be more detailed and specific some of us women are not very technical. Thanks.
23/11/09 – Have come back to read some more reviews and Graham has given a step-by-step guide to changing the region code on this machine to ‘0’ multi-region code and it now plays my US dvds, easy…am well-pleased now :-)) Thanks Graham!
