Steampunk
Steampunk is the fastest growing subculture around. It imagines a world in which steam is the main locomotive power driving submersibles, rockets and ships across the world. And it features Victoriana, time travel and adventure, all elements in this wonderful new tarot. The major archetypes are the Gods of the Machine, and the four suits are Airships, Engines, Submersibles and Leviathans. Possibly the best gift for wine lovers ever invented. Whether you’re taking a bottle round to dinner at a friend’s house or giving a good bottle to someone as a present this is probably the most ingenious puzzle solving challenge ever made. Will the lucky recipient be able to free the bottle from the puzzle? Instructions: simply remove the puzzle from the box replace the card bottle with your best bottle of plonk. Then follow the included instruction sheet to correctly place your bottle in the puzzle place it back in the box and hand it to the lucky recipient. At first sight it appears laughably simple to open but first impressions are deceptive. It’s hugely entertaining watching the recipient go from cocky to puzzled to deeply frustrated – especially whilst everyone else is chipping in with their advice… No loop that bit over there slip that toggle round the whatsit etc. The recipient will feel they deserve every last drop if they do finally manage to crack it. If they don’t aside from you crowing you can put them out of their misery as it does come with release instructions. All Bottled Up is an ingenious gift idea for that ‘perfect host’ and fits standard wine herb vinegar and olive oil bottles (for non-booze drinkers). It’s a great party piece and can be used again and again unless someone gets so frustrated they bring out the power tools. (Does not include bottle!) Features: ‘All Bottled Up’ puzzle Works with standard wine herb vinegar olive oil and pop bottles Includes wooden puzzle pieces linking cord and instructions Does not include wine! Includes instructions Please Note: Colours may vary. Size: Assorted puzzle pieces: largest 14.5 x 10 x 10cm smallest 3 x 2 x 2cm

Steampunk
This is a reissue of the first major YA steampunk anthology; fourteen top storytellers push the genre’s mix of sci-fi, fantasy, history, and adventure in fascinating new directions. Imagine an alternate universe where romance and technology reign. Where tinkerers and dreamers craft and re-craft a world of automatons, clockworks, calculating machines, and other marvels that never were. Here, fourteen masters of speculative fiction, including two graphic storytellers, embrace the steampunk genre’s established themes and refashion them in surprising ways and settings as diverse as Appalachia, Ancient Rome, future Australia, and alternate California. The result is an anthology that defies its genre even as it defines it. This is the first YA anthology to focus exclusively on steampunk; genre defining and genre defying – with steampunk settings as diverse as Canada, New Zealand, Wales, Ancient Rome, future Australia and alternate California. This title features a top contributor line-up and editors with established adult/YA/cult following. This title includes a B-format edition of this first-rate literary sci-fi/fantasy with crossover appeal.

Looking remarkably like a small cheap tennis racket this bug batter has a wicked secret. When you turn it on the wires in the head of the racket ‘go live’. So not only does a good swing of the Zapper give your bug a thwack but it also electrocutes the little critter because it’s good to be sure a bug with a revenge kick is not a pretty sight. Now there may well be a Fly Protection League who’ll be up in arms (or indeed proboscis) about this wonderful contraption but we’re afraid that that’s just tough because boy is this gizmo fun or what! Racquet style bug zapper Comes with cover Size: 49×17.5x2cm Requires 2 x AA batteries not included

Cult Film
“Inside The Wicker Man” is a treat for all cinemagoers, exhaustively researched and achieving a near-perfect balance between history, trivia and serious analysis. Allan Brown describes the filming and distribution of the cult masterpiece as a ‘textbook example of How Things Should Never Be Done’. The omens were bad from the start, and proceeded to get much, much worse, with fake blossom on trees to simulate spring, actors chomping on ice-cubes to prevent their breath showing on film, and verbal and physical confrontations involving both cast and crew. The studio hated it and hardly bothered to distribute it, but today it finds favour with critics and fans alike, as a serious – if flawed – piece of cinema. Brown expertly guides readers through the film’s convoluted history, attempting along the way to explain its enduring fascination, and providing interviews with the key figures – many of whom still have an axe to grind, and some of whom still harbour plans for a sequel.
