Something seems strange about the old gang. They gave up alcohol and oxygen. And Bill Farrell (Tom Tryon) seems even stranger. Oh it’s his wedding night. Anyway Marge Bradley Farrell (Gloria Talbott) is starting to suspect that something is afoot. Maybe more than the foot is being substituted. Why does Bill tell her that he is just learning how to love?
Stay tuned for her shocking revelation and dilemma on “Who can you trust.”
There is a little more psychological depth of thought that went into this movie. It is not just another “Earth girls are easy” script. You may even find yourself rooting for the substitute.

Widescreen version enhanced for 16:9 tv sets, English subtitles, Dolby digital mono, black and white, Paramount Pictures. Produced and directed by Gene Fowler Junior (I Was A Teenage Werewolf 1957, Oscar nomination for editorial on It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World, and work on countless tv series). Featuring Tom Tryon (The Cardinal, The Longest Day, tv series Texas John Slaughter, many other tv roles but also a novelist with some success-had decided he hated acting) and Gloria Talbott (The Oregon Trail, Girls Town, many tv series including Rawhide and Gunsmoke, played centre forward for Chelsea, made that bit up). The plot: opens in an average late 1950’s town, with several men in a drunken state discussing marital life and the intention of one of their number to take his wedding vows. Said man, Bill (Tom Tryon) leaves inebriated friends but is waylaid by an alien. Cue first abduction with a small billowing cloud of gas enveloping Bill’s body. His alien substitute undertakes the vows of wedlock, cunningly disguised as Bill. We already know what is wrong and are given confirmation as lightning reveals the true face of the alien. Bill’s bride Marge soon realises things are not quite right. To tell more would spoil the plot. I first saw this when very young and my star rating reflects my fondness for this film. It unfolds beautifully, the special effects for the physical appearance of the aliens have passed the test of time, and it’s a gorgeous movie. Buy it, roll around on your bed with it, and then calm down and settle for a joyous viewing.
