The item does fit and power my Compaq laptop and works ok. However, it is not a genuine HP replacement, even though it has stickers etc on it leading you to think it is. The power brick is currently held together with two bands, as the heat it gives out melted the glue that holds it together. Sometimes the lead that plugs into the power brick comes loose and shorts with a nice little spark. Pretty, but probably not all that safe. When I replace this one I’ll be paying more for the real thing.
