Hardware is good, cheap and it works. Software is a nightmare… No instructions and damned near impossible to set up. Having said that it does work when you eventually get it sorted. So for anyone considering this gadget… Instructions… Copy the software to a folder on your desktop (windows) then plug in the USB and load the drivers from USB DriverWHQL Certified Driver. You will need to do this twice because it needs 2 drivers. (YOU WILL BE PROMPTED BY WINDOWS TO DO THIS) Then you are ready to load the software (All Of It) all of it because it does not all work. Now plug the OBD connector into the car and turn on the ignition. Finally try out the programs (All Of Them). If you get the error/message interface not found/not connected it’s a probably a COM port connection problem. You have to try out every single port until you find the one the interface is sitting on. (YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY SET THE PORT NUMBER AND BAUD RATE TO GET A CONNECTION) I hope this helps someone.

This item was received very well packaged and arrived in 2 days, well before the expected date. The packege contained all the hardware in seperate bags and a mini CD containing the software.
The package did not contain any instructions as to the connection of the hardware or what to expect or see once connected. The USB connection was recognised by my old laptop running XP and I did require the driver contained on the CD. I browsed the CD folder looking for the software to install on my laptop and installed the recommended program. The software was next to useless and would not recognise the USB connection. As this is a USB device I found this rediculous.
I found alternative software on the internet and installed this.
The hardware was recognised and easily connected to enable diagnostics and light re setting etc.
In summary, great hardware and well worth the money but expect to be looking for alternative/better software to make full use of it.

Purchased this last July. Couldn’t use it until Dec 09 due to illness. However, I have now attempted to use it over many days but to no avail. I have found this to be a nightmare of an item although still unsure whether it is software or hardware related. I have trawled all the forums regarding fixes and drivers but still no joy. I have contacted BV Electronics via e-mail (no phone contact available) explaining the problem but they just quote that I have passed the 90 day warranty – even though I explained my medical issue. I really do not want to return the item and would rather some support in finding a fix but non was offered. What do you do? My car is year 2002(petrol) and definitely OBD2. My next port of call will be a trader I can speak to over the phone and firstly ascertain that it will “work out of the box”.

This product is really well manufactured (cables & the device), but doesn’t work on my Citroen C5. Device is described as OBDII reader, which is standard for the American cars, not for European. European standard is EOBD or EOBDII. Some of the European cars will communicate with this device, but not all of them. Let’s better create a list of the cars which cannot communicate with this device, starting with this one: Citroen C5, diesel, 2.2HDI, automatic, exclusive, manufactured 2001.
I believe this list should be made by the seller, but for some reason he do not present such a data.

Brilliant. Works great, especially when you have some decent software with it. This is less expensive than E-bay, for the same thing. Can’t go wrong.
Software on CD is okay for free. OBD connector sticks out a bit, so make sure it doesn’t interfear with your OBD location.
