I’ve got a brand new dell with i7-820qm processor, windows 7 64 bit and my trusted Samsung Synchmaster 225mw (with witch i’ve been using the dvi port with my old laptop straight off the blocks), for which I bought this product for. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work: the resolution modes listed didn’t match the monitor (not even with unticking a checkbox that shows extra modes). Stuck with using the vga port.

If this port was good enough it would allow the OS to detect the lcd monitor just fine, as it doesn’t I cannot possibly recommend this product. Unfortunately its been passed the 30 days return policy otherwise this would’ve been back in the post!
