My brother brought the set with the 2 plugs that give you 85mbp, because I have an xbox wireless adapter i thought i might as put it too good use and use the wireless instead of a wire. It works great and works with the plug we already brought so all i had to do was put the other plug in my room (we also have very very thick walls) and it works superb. The wireless isnt as good connection as using the wire but all the same is the best solution if having problems with getting wireless everywhere in your home great job Devlolo!!

I read other peoples reviews on this product before ordering to supplement my ethernet system from Devolo. They were bang on the money. This wireless addition has made a totally secure addition to my home system and produces an excellent signal strength whilst restricting devices that can access it. Well worth the money and no issues about range – just plug it in somewhere else in the house and switch off when not needed.

If you have not yet bought any Devolo gear, you will also need a Devolo Homeplug to go at the router/modem end….but its worth it

Basically, you plug a homeplug adaptor in at the router/modem end, and plug a network cable from the router/modem into the adapter……your home ring main is now a giant network cable, so any Devolo device that you plug in anywhere on the same ring main is part of your LAN

So if you then plug this amazing little box into any mains socket, anywhere in the house (as long as it is on the same ring), you will have another wireless access point…..your PCs will see it as another device, so I have 2 wireless networks now (named Devolo and Belkin), and for simplicity, I set both WEP passwords to be the same so I dont get confused.

Actually, it worked straight out of the box, I literally just plugged it in and bingo…..but you obviously should set a WEP password to secure your network….that took about 10 mins. Managing the device is done by running a programme from any PC on the network which brings up a browser where you set the password, you can do lots of other stuff that I dont need, so I didnt bother going any further….it really is very simple

Another amazing feature is that not only does this device give you a wireless extender….but also on the bottom is a LAN ethernet port, into which I have plugged my old HP Laserjet4 network printer, and that is also now wired back to the router via the mains

Now if you buy any other Devolo product like another Homeplug…..you can have a LAN socket anywhere in the house, or even onother wireless extender (but you really would need a big house as the range is great)

To say I am impressed is an understatement……brilliant I call it !!

I already had two of the blue Devolo dLan Homeplugs in the house, used to extend a wired ethernet connection through the mains to an inaccessiblel location. These two had worked faultlessly sine day one.

This wifi-enabled homeplug was added to the network, to create a useable wifi network in another location that is 5 thick walls away from the wireless router.

As I already had the 2-plug dlan network in place with a password,I found that the easiest way to add this, was to uninstall all the dlan software from the PC, then reinstall it and add in all 3 plugs from scratch. To do this you need the security ID number off each plug – get a magnifying glass to read these off the stickers. The only glitch noted was that the wireless plug’s mac address on the sticker is not the unit’s actual mac address (but of course it still works).

So at one end of the house, there are a couple of wireless laptops, PS3 and WII connecting to the wireless router, elsewhere there is a PC and video conference unit connected to a wired ethernet homeplug, and in a 3rd location there is a PC and a Macbook connected to this new wireless homeplug.

And, it all works flawlessly. Just wondering if I could try putting this wireless plug in the shed during the summer to work outside in the garden :)

I now probably have about 6 of the ethernet plug ins around the house, and they have been working without a glimmer of a blip since they came out of the box. I used the devolo system when looking at the best way of distributing the Internet around the house and have never looked back. I cant rate their products highly enough. I have also recently invested in their WIFI plug in. This took a little more time to set up – if only because of the security settings – but their instructions were faultless. This too works like a dream. In fact if Devolo made Bricks, I’d have my house built in them. This stuff is of the highest quality and also the simplest to use.

Can’t wait to get my hands on their TV plug Ins, when the Budget allows.

Andy.
