I have had quite a lot of experience with networking both wired and wirleess. I have know about the mains networking solution for some time but it was the distance from the wireless source and weak signal which suggested I try the Homeplug solution.

It worked straight away. So good in fact that I bought another adapter to relpace my wife’s rather weak wireless signal. The Devolo 200 worked great with my 50mbs cable connection and there is room expansion with this product. The product is well built and looks good. The security issue is a bit daunting ie copying the information (numbers) from the bottom of the devises to establish the security via the computer. The device works fine with out doing any security preparations, just plug and play… I haven’t tried other homeplug products but I recommend this product very highly indeed.

The Devolo 200 Homewire plug in network solves all your wireless problems. Don’t waste money buying USB dongles or cards – just get a starter kit and get setup in no time. Easy to install – nothing to install – PLUG and PLAY as it should be. Anyone considering this device should bear in mind there are many different ones on the market. Most do not work when used in conjunction with extension cables – the Devolo does ! Only use Homewire plugs from the same manufacturer as from experience I can tell you that Netgear and Devolo don’t like each other.

All in all probably the best solution there is to ‘dodgy wireless’ connections. 5 Star rating for a 5 Star product.

I have a NAS set up with 4.5TB of usable space. NAS is located in a spare room. Ripped most of my DVD collection to it (ISO format – space is not an issue) Use the Devolo devices to connect my NAS to an NMT (Popcornhour a-110) in the living room. Works really well. Reasons it does not get 5 stars – have to periodically cycle the devices on an off due to a loss of connectivity. Apparently Devolo are aware of this. Second reason – devices do run hot, i.e. they get very warm to the touch. Nothing dangerous but initially a little unnerving.

This product works well we have a number around the house and keeps you connected to the web.

We have a couple of laptops that use wifi but have noticed that recently we keeping loosing connection apparently the state of the internet networks is at fault too much demand, not up to date etc etc, we found connecting via the devolo has helped retain the connection longer although its not a miracle worker and will drop the connection if internet access is interupted.

Home networking is well proven as a tech and Devolo’s version works well. Good management and firmware update software available and they ensure new devices like this are compatible with older kit like the AVDESK 200s I had already running. I run a IPSEC VPN over this day in day out and very stable indeed.
