Absolutely fantastic piece of kit. This laptop was a replacement for another HP Compaq that had died previously. Another review complained about the heat but honestly I can say that this one is alot cooler than my previous laptop. At the time of typing this I’ve had it on my lap for about 3 hours and I’m not even hot.
It’s fairly powerful, tested a few applications and games on it. Civilisation 5, Torchlight and TF2 run fine on it. Going to test how well Crysis and Mass Effect 2 run (badly probably). Photoshop, DVDs, ImgBrn, Reason/Record and Skype all run fine. No setup needed for skype to find the webcam.
The only downside is stripping off all the rubbish that is pre-installed. Once you get rid of magic desktop, norton and the hp advisor rubbish then the system runs really slick.
Out of all the laptops I shopped around for this one met all my expectations and more. It’s the perfect balance between price and power.

Spent a long time researching and choosing a 3gb/320gb laptop for a price and this one does not disappoint. Although labelled Compaq this is an HP machine as they own both brands. For £359 it was also £80+ cheaper than other sellers for the spec. Dedicated graphics card is a big plus compared to others and AMD Turion 64 processor is mid range but good value and more than up to all home/school/leisure applications .I am an HP fan having never had problems at either home or work with their desktops or laptops. Printer compatibilty is a plus with so many to choose from and battery life at 6 hours is better than most although not yet put to test. Build quality is good, set up out of the box was simplicity itself , in plain English and it all just worked. Wireless connectivity clicked in no problem. As an XP user Windows 7 remains a learning curve but its intuitive so finding your feet is pretty easy. Shiny lid shows every fingerprint but small drawback to what is overall a very good value all round laptop – so far so good..Recommended and consistently in the Amazon top seller list for weeks now..

The laptop has a good range of features: webcam, wireless etc, but I was not happy with the battery life. I contacted HP about it and spent an hour on the phone checking whether the battery was ok. It came out as functioning properly. HP said that about 2 hours is normal, a far cry from the “up to 6 hours” as quoted by Amazon!

When it arrived I was most impressed. Initial build was great and I was impressed with the simple connection to my wireless network and with the speed of the PC. Problem is that, having received it on Wednesday, it is now Friday and I have had to arrange with Technical Support for it to go back for repair as the motherboard seems to have a problem. I must say that the Technical Support people were extremely helpful.

I spent a very long time finding a laptop with a dual core 64-bit Windows 7 and a reasonable graphics gard at this price point and was very happy with its performance. Unfortunately, the LCD screen developed a fault in the bottom left corner after three weeks. Amazon accepted this as DOA as it was within 30 days of delivery. The old laptop was returned the next day arranged with a link to DHL through Amazon and the new replacement laptop was waiting when I got home that evening! This is better service than I’ve experienced when buying in person at a specialist electronics store. This isn’t the first time that I’ve been very glad that I bought from Amazon and feel that you can buy with confidence.
