I’ve had one of these for 9 months, and the lid is now so loose that it hardly stays on. I checked on Bytestor’s website and they offer a 2 year guarantee, through the original seller, so I contacted Amazon on Tuesday and asked if the cap could be replaced, and today they’ve posted me a replacement, no charge. Fantastic, well done Amazon (-1 star for the lid not being that secure in the 1st place). Otherwise I have been very happy with the flash drive, and bought other ones for family at Christmas.

Read the review before me that talks about the drive failing. My condolences because that sounds like an awful thing to happen.
As for me and my experience with the Flash drive, I have to say it’s been plain sailing. I originally bought the 2 GB version to transport my Word; Excel and Powerpoint files around and it was great. Only problem was my wife started using to carry her Powerpoint files around! So I gave her that one and bought this 4 Gb.
This is working great since I purchased in april (Yep, I’m a slow reviewer too!). I think that they are absolutely marvelous. I always used to carry around a messenger bag stuffed with policy documents and guides to meetings so I could stay on top of my work, but now I carry this! Straight into a laptop or desktop and I have books’ worth of info at my fingertips. I use all the time and have had no problems whatsoever.
However, it is never my only source of backup. I use it for transporting files – NOT as my primary backup. I backup every 2-4 weeks onto an external 250gb hard drive (they cost roughly £50 – see Western Digital My Book on Amazon Search then check Similar Items). If my desktop ever fails, it’s all there.
Any ICT person will tell you the same. Except they’ll tell you to backup a lot more regularly than I do.
My Opinion: Flash drives for transport and External Hard drives for back-up/ Storage.

Just to report that one of these devices has survived an accidental 45min, 40C wash cycle. It came out looking as good as new, and after I left it to dry for a few hours I plugged it back in. Perfect; all files intact. I’d certainly recommend this device but my main recommendation has to be to check your pockets before putting your clothes in the wash.

I previously bought 1gb, then 2gb and now have three 4gb drives which I use as a back up to store photos’s and important documents on. I have used the 1gb & 2gb drives to ferry files to and from work and have never had a problem with any of them. Must say I feel sorry for the chap who lost his universary work, but things this small, regardless of make, are probably prone to failure if carried around in pockets and not handled with some care. I would not depend on anything this small as the only store for my valuable files. Having said that I have not had a failure so it has not been a problem, so would recommend these drives without hesitation.

Having now used this repeatedly for 6 months, I can report the drive to be robust and very good indeed. I often forget to run the “unplug hardware” routine – I often just plug it in and out of laptops and PCs, and it continues to work very well indeed. Reassuring “click” lid, and oodles of storage space – Recommended.
