Panasonic DMR-EX773EBK 160GB HDD DVD Recorder with Freeview+
Easy to set up. Excellent picture and easy to use considering its versatility. However there is one major drawback and that is with the “new” Electronic Programme guide(EPG).
New it may be but improved it certainly is not.
My other Panasonic kit has a standard fullscreen EPG. The new system, called Gemstar, incorporates compulsory advertising which takes up a lare portion of the left hand side of the screen making it very difficult to read/use the actual guide which is now squeezed into the remaining space on the right hand side of the screen. Had I known this before I certainly would not have purchased this unit and would not recommend it to others. All very unPanasonic like. Why do they do it?

I have always been pleased with how easy Panasonic DVD players are to set up and use. However this model has been compromised by the reduction of the TV guide by 1/3rd of a screen and the seemingly compulsory addition of an advert panel. These ads are intrusive and annoying, and surely Panasonic cannot think it is acceptable. If anybody knows a way of deleting this panel I would be grateful to hear about it. Apart from this, the product lives up to expectations.
