Ladies and gentleguys, welcome to the review of the first decent, worthwhile item Amazon Vine has sent me. I’m not so sure as to what I’m meant to review- the cable itself or the ‘frustration-free packaging’. The little box the cable was packed in caused me a great many frustrations as I didn’t feel particularly inclined to walk to the kitchen to get a knife to pierce the plastic seal, and so had to make do with a fivepence piece. Hardly sharp now, are they Amazon???

In addition, the outer box the cable’s box was boxed in was about the size of a book or so, really quite impractical if you ask me, and you have agreed to do so at least once by reading this.

The HDMI cable itself is a reasonable 3 metres in length, but won’t suit anyone whose input and output have a distance of anything over 3 metres between them for sure. For others, well, free frustration-guaranteed restrictive-length HDMI cable is as free frustration-guaranteed restrictive-length HDMI cable does.

Cable received in a good size reusable box. A small thing but a breath of fresh air compared with the usual blister packaging. The Cable is a good length with well finished connectors at both ends and is complete with a 12 month warrantee. HDMI is a digital standard and cable quality is less critical but this seems to provide a good secure connection and an excellent picture quality at a good price. If this is an example of the approach and quality I look forward to more Amazon Basic products in the future.

Firstly let me say that I don’t fully understand the concept of the frustration free packaging, as the product arrived in a sealed cardboard box and I had to find a pair of scissors to cut the seal as my nails weren’t long enough. A lot of suppliers ship these cables in plastic bags which open more easily, so I guess what we are saying here is that the packaging is less frustrating than one of those sealed, moulded, plastic type packets.

But as far as the actual cable is concerned, it’s a bargain! I really don’t know where you would find a cheaper gold plated HDMI cable in a 10 foot length. It’s particularly useful if you wish to wall mount your flatscreen TV and have a bluray player positioned some distance away. The cable was slightly thinner than I would have expected, but it worked beautifully between my Sony bluray and Samsung 1080p TV. Highly recommended.

Very impressed with this cable, when I saw it I knew it was just what I wanted for the TV and its great, it produces a good quality picture bearing in mind it is from the Amazon Basic range but you cannot see the difference between this one and the other more expensive cable I have on another TV in the house.

I think if you need something like a cable, for instance, then why pay an arm and a leg for something that a much cheaper version that will do the job just as well.

I know there are going to be those out there that think that high price means good quality but it does not always work out that way.

This is a perfectly good cable for a fraction of the price of some others I have looked at and is perfect for the job in hand. There are far more important things out there to spend your money on so get this one instead, no one will see it behind the telly, and the picture will be just as good.

This cable is a good one. It’s a thick, sturdy-feeling cable that will survive a bit of wear and tear and won’t allow signal interference easily. It’s clearly a better cable than some of the no-brand ones available through Amazon Marketplace, and some of the HDMI cables that some manufacturers ship with their TVs or Blu-Ray players.

The frustration-free packaging is fine too. Some reviewers seem to be confusing ‘frustration-free’ with ‘eco-friendly’. Yes there is still quite a lot of card packaging material used to ship it, and there is a little bit of plastic involved that’s not recyclable, but it *is* frustration-free and does what it says on the tin- you *can* open it without scissors, though you need a little bit of brute force. It’s 99%+ recyclable.

Because of the way it’s boxed up though, it won’t fit through your letterbox, so if you may have to go to some depot to collect it- which sadly wouldn’t be ‘frustration-free’ after all.
