Works well. Does exactly what is says and the ability to search for the strongest signal is very useful.
My gripe is the gooseneck is not quite stiff enough and i find it bending with vigorous driving. Phone call quality is excellent.
Would recommend to anyone with iphone (NB – make sure you have enough space between the cig lighter and the gearbox to house it)

I bought this product following the recommendations here and am really pleased with it so far. My VW doesn’t have an auxiliary jack point & the dealership was quoting £170 to supply & fit, so this comes in much cheaper.
When the FM seach button is pressed on the touchbase my car stereo automatically links into the identifed frequency, if, in the course of driving the sound quality changes (as car radios do) by just pressing the seach button again it will find another frequency to link into. It has meant I can listen to all my music collection & the sound quality is on a par, if not better, than listening to the radio. I also play audio books, purchased & downloaded from amazon & they too sound great through it.
The iphone fits securely into the stand & in my car rests to the left of the gear stick, with the bendy flex going behind the gear stick to the 12v socket. From here I can easily see the phone & press the hands free button to take a phone call, for me this meant two well needed gadgets for the price of one!!. The quality of the sound through the stereo is good & so far callers on the other end have heard fine. This product also has a usb port between the touchbase & where it goes into the socket, I have used this to plug my satnav in so both can be used at the same time without the requirment of a double socket adaptor.
So all in all a great product & for its price I would recommend anyone to give it a try

I bought this unit today and found that the hands-free sound doesn’t work – it is a known fault with this unit and they should simply not be on sale. If you buy it, you will just have to wrap it up and send it back for a refund. Also, the multi-function switch doesn’t work. Also, the hands-free microphone doesn’t work. Buy a Griffin instead.

I have had 4 of these so far they last between 12 hrs to 10 days, work great for 12hrs to 10 days. its a great concept but concepts should be tested before put into the market.

I must start by saying, if I have based my decision on buying this product from it’s reviews on Amazon I would never have ended up purchasing one at all!
This would have been a shame as this gadget is great!
I read all of the reviews, some good and some not so good and decided I was going to order one anyway and decide for myself. I am very glad I did because so far I am very impressed.
The goose neck is plenty strong enough to hold my i-phone 3GS which is also in a hard case so slightly bigger and a little heavier than a standard i-phone. This can also be bent to whatever position required.
The sound qualitly I found to be poor to begin with until I pressed the PRO button twice. This totally transformend the quality and it is a joy to listen to through the speakers in my VW.
The phone call quality through the Tunebase is also very good. This uses your cars speakers as the speaker for the phone during your conversation and a mic on the Tunebase unit. If you are listening to the tunes on your i-phone and your phone rings, it will cut the music when you answer the phone and start it again the call is ended.
The one thing I will say is, check your cigarette lighter/ 12v power port position in your car will happily accomadate the tunebase before ordering. If it is very close to the cars dashboard you should be ok but if it is positioned in the centre console near to the gear stick the Tunebase is really going to get in your way
Remember the Tunbase also charges your i-phone in the car at all times which is a big plus as i-phone battery life is not great at the best of times!
The two options available which do the same thig is this Belkin Tunebase and the Griffin Road trip. The Road Trip is a touch more expensive and in my mind nowhere near as nice to look at although i’m sure it works just as well?
In short, I love mine, don’t be put off by the reviews.
I have not given the Tunebase a proper long journey test as yet but we are driving to the south of france this summer so that sould be test enough!
