Despite the fact that both amazon.co.uk and samsung.com advertise iPlayer capability for this Samsung player, you CANNOT use iPlayer with it. Hopefully a software update will fix this but as of today (02/6/2010) BBC iPlayer simply does not exist on the BD-C5500.

This will not play Avatar straight out of the box, get a red screen with firmware upgrade required which is simple enough but easier if it is plugged into the internet via an ethernet cable, failing that go to the samsung website and download the firmware upgraded onto a memory stick, you will need to unzip this. once the player is upgraded the disk still will not work so switch off the player at the mains for twenty seconds or more. switch back on and this time you get a black screen saying about the firmware update being required, ignore this and wait for about three minutes, the disk will then start and the picture looks truly amazing

As a blu ray player it does the job, but facebook, lovefilm and bbc iplayer are not available on it as I write this review 15/6/10. I have contacted both samsung and lovefilm and neither of them know when this service will be available on this model

if you buy this the first thing you should do is download the update from the samsung website onto a pen drive and intall it onto the player, once you’ve done this the player is awesome, however without it, it fails to play many blu rays. great for the price, a must have for a full hd tv owner.
