First let me mention that the movies themselves rate 5 stars. The transfers are awful, though. All discs have bad motion blurring, whenever something moves on the screen or the camera pans, for the entire duration of all films. It’s like someone is shaking your TV set for a split second every 15 seconds or so for a hour and a half straight. Please understand that I have a high threshold for cheap DVDs and am not making a big deal out of nothing. I can deal with compression issues, edge enhancement, print damage, panned and scanned VHS transfers, a little extra matting, a couple of seconds missing, etc., but these are easily the worst DVD transfers I have ever seen.
I emailed Anchor Bay concerning this problem and was told that the DVDs are fine and there is no problem with motion blurring. I was told it was a problem with watching them on an NTSC TV, but I’ve read on a couple of forums that people in the UK are experiencing the same problems with the discs on PAL sets. I also told AB this. They still blamed it on the NTSC TV. Pathetic customer service.
If this isn’t enough the picture quality is very cloudy compared to other DVD/VHS versions of the same movies, the (burned in) subtitles are borderline illiterate, the sound is muffled, and there are no extras.
Easily the worst DVD set of the year, probably ever. Shame on you Anchor Bay. José Mojica Marins really deserves better than this. You really should think about taking this set off the market and redoing it correctly. Or at least own up to your mistakes and give an apology to anyone who wasted their money on this, rather than shifting the blame on the consumer.

Those transfers manage to be worse than the ones from the Brazilian Box Set (that I own). Anchor Bay seriously dropped the ball on this one.
