Excellent phones with more than adequate base and excellent mid and treble performance. As with all buds they need to be correctly inserted or sound “tinny”. The bud part (that goes in the ear canal) is slightly angled (like Shure phones) so slot in nicely, with practice, rather than having to be jammed in like some similar buds.
The only downside was the packaging – hence 4 stars – a simple bag with part number sticker rather than what you would get in a shop. This may be a problem if they were to be a gift, but I guess this is how the price is kept so low. Certainly great from a green angle though as no hideous plastic impossible to get into without stanley knife bubble. Overall an excellent purchase.

After going through 4 pairs of flimsy HPM-70 earphones, I ended up buying these slightly more expensive ones.
The sound quality seems better and they are more sturdy. They also look very good and are effective at blocking outside noise.
Great value earphones.

On first plugging in I failed to click fully home. In this state they worked but had poor quality sound. I wonder if other reviewers who were disappointed were suffering from this problem. When pushed fully home I would rate them as very good and excellent value. I only listen to MP3 files on the phone so am not expecting miracles.

i have been an avid sony ericsson user for about 4 years now. but the most recent items havent been to great. I firstly bought a C902, had continuous problems with that. but they were fixed by sony ericsson with days. so i bought my first set of these headphones about february 2009. this first set were excellent. sound quality was superb and they stayed in one piece and looked like new until finally in november they let go and stopped working. i thought, that this handfree was brilliant the first time so should be equally as good if i bought again. so i did. BUT I WAS SOO WRONG. i have had this handfree for nearly 2 months and have already picked many faults with it.
Firstly, when i first bought the second handfree (this one im reviewing), it arrived packaged exactly the same as my original set from february 2009, but when i pluged it into the fone and started playing the music, the sound was very weak and only came from one headphone (right one). To cure this i plugged the handfree into the computer and turn the volume right up. Thereafter the sound was as good as my first set.
My second problem was, this handsfree had badly discoloured. after about 2 weeks of use, the chrome/shiney blue paint on the headphones started rubbing off easily. by the end of the 3rd week, even the chrome colour underneath the bluey paint has rubbed off meaning the bare yellow/cream coloured plastic was showing. Now the sony ericsson symbol which is stuck to each headphone has rubbed off and is now just a green blob… the silver detail of the symbol had rubbed off. (during this time, the handsfree was in very little use, but was in my coat pocket…. the first set i bought was under the same conditions and i had no problems with that)
Overall, i wouldnt rate this product. the only reason i have given it 2 stars is because my first set of the same headset were excellent. if i hadnt of had such a good first set, then this would be getting a 1 star.
with having some bad sony ericsson products in the last year, i am finally converting over to the Apple iPhone as their build quality exceeds SE’s by miles.
